Privacy Policy
Southwest Agri-Tech Pty Ltd (ACN 680 859 385, ABN 15 369 150 330) (“SWAT”, “we”, “us”), Margaret River, Western Australia — operator of ClearWx (the ClearWx mobile application and associated weather-station service).
Version 1.0 · Last updated 8 August 2026
This policy explains how we collect, hold, use and disclose personal information in connection with ClearWx, consistent with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). ClearWx is a viewer app: it shows live and historical readings from a weather station installed at your property as part of a Southwest Agri-Tech service.
1. What we collect
Account and identity information. When you sign in, authentication is handled exclusively by Microsoft Entra External ID. We receive and store your name, email address and a Microsoft account identifier so we can show you the stations that belong to your account. We do not receive, store, or have access to your password.
Weather-station data. Readings from the station hardware at your property — temperature, humidity, wind, rainfall, barometric pressure, leaf wetness, soil moisture and similar — together with station health data (battery, connectivity). These readings are generally not personal information, but they are linked to your account and property within our service.
Technical information. Standard service logs — IP addresses, device information, requests made and error diagnostics — used to secure and improve the service.
Correspondence. The details you provide when you contact us for support.
What the app does not touch. ClearWx does not request or access your phone's location, contacts, photos, camera or microphone. The app contains no advertising and no third-party analytics or tracking SDKs. The demo mode uses a shared demonstration dataset and requires no account.
2. How we collect it
Directly from you (when your account is set up as part of your station-service agreement, and in correspondence); automatically from your station hardware; and automatically when you use the app (service logs and authentication events).
3. Why we collect it
We collect, hold and use this information to: provide and operate ClearWx (display, charting, and service alerts for your stations); create and manage accounts; respond to support requests; send service and account communications; maintain security and audit trails; comply with our legal obligations; and improve the service. We may use de-identified, aggregated weather data (which no longer identifies anyone) for analytics such as regional climate insight. We do not sell personal information.
4. Who we disclose it to
We do not sell or rent personal information. We disclose it only to the service providers who help us run ClearWx, to the extent needed for them to provide their service to us:
• Microsoft — application hosting, database, device connectivity and authentication (Azure and Entra services).
• Cloudflare — website hosting, content delivery, and network security in front of our web services.
We may also disclose personal information where required or authorised by law, to our professional advisers under confidentiality, or as part of a genuine sale or restructure of our business (in which case this policy continues to apply to the transferred information).
5. Overseas storage and disclosure
Our hosting and service providers store and process data in data centres that may be located outside Australia — including Microsoft Azure regions in Southeast Asia (Singapore), and Cloudflare infrastructure in the United States and globally. Where personal information is handled overseas, we take reasonable steps as required by APP 8 to ensure the recipient handles it consistently with the APPs — principally through these providers' contractual data-protection and security commitments and our configuration of their services. By using ClearWx you acknowledge that your information may be stored and processed in these locations.
6. How we protect it
Reasonable security measures we maintain include: sign-in exclusively through Microsoft Entra External ID (no passwords held by us); encryption of data in transit (TLS) and at rest; per-account access controls so each customer sees only their own stations; per-device credentials on station hardware; and audit logging. No system is perfectly secure, but if a data breach occurs that is likely to result in serious harm, we will notify affected individuals and the OAIC in accordance with the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.
7. Data stored on your phone
The app keeps a small local cache — your most recent station readings and your display preferences — so it opens instantly and can show the last reading when you are out of coverage. Signing out clears it. This cache is excluded from Android device backups. The app uses no advertising or tracking cookies.
8. How long we keep it
We keep account information for as long as your account is active, and station data for the life of your station service, consistent with your service agreement. Historical weather records form part of the ongoing value of the service (seasonal comparison); if your service ends, we will on request delete or de-identify data associated with you, except where the law requires retention.
9. Access, correction and complaints
You may request access to, or correction of, the personal information we hold about you by emailing [email protected]. We will respond within a reasonable time.
If you have a privacy complaint, contact us first and we will investigate and respond. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version will always be published at swagritech.com.au/clearwx/privacy with its last-updated date. For material changes we will notify account holders by email.
